Las Piedras is a small town and municipality located in the mountainous region of eastern Puerto Rico. Although not necessarily a tourist spot, the town is home to some indigenous archaeological sites, the southern portions of El Yunque rainforest and various restaurants.

Las Piedras translates to "The Rocks". The Las Piedras Pueblo has the municipal buildings, a Roman Catholic church, a main recreational plaza, and shops.

What to see

  • 1 Las Piedras Pueblo (downtown Las Piedras). See the historic Roman Catholic church, Spanish-style recreational plaza, and the municipal buildings surrounded by streets and shops.
    You can drive around the pueblo or park your car and walk around the square and into the plaza. The Spanish law, which regulated life in Puerto Rico in the early 19th century, stated the plaza's purpose was for celebrations and festivities.

What to do

  • 1 Cueva del Indio, Barrio Quebrada Arenas, ☏ , . Archeological site where indigenous practiced religious ceremonies. Because of its archeological importance, access is restricted. A guided tour can be coordinated through the Las Piedras tourism office.
